Learning in Year 5

Year 5 has continued to have a fabulous term. In Technology, we've started learning vital skills to make effective videos.  We've watched and analysed some videos, looked at different features and learned about  the different kinds video shots we can make.
We really enjoyed making our own short videos to explore and apply this newfound knowledge.  We look forward to applying this skill in different areas across the curriculum, where we can make short, engaging videos to demonstrate our understanding, e.g. in science, communication or English.
In English, we've continued to explore The Girl Who Stole an Elephant, our core text for the term.  We've enjoyed reading this thrilling book, which is full of adventure and suspense.  We've used drama, one of the Communication strands of learning, to explore characters and events.  This has helped us to understand the story even more, as well as giving us opportunities to develop our team work.

This week, rehearsals for the Parent Performance on 12th December moved to the large hall, so that all of Year 5 can practise the play, songs and dancing together. We look forward to sharing this with you, and hope you can make it on the day.
