Learning in Year 4

We have had a great half-term of learning so far in Y4B. Recently we have been exploring the story ‘Jemm Button,’ which is a text based on the experiences and real life events of a boy from South America. The children loved creating postcards in the role of Jemmy, using their inference skills to explore his emotions and grammatical techniques, such as fronted adverbials to add detail to their writing.
We have also used our cultural learning around the art movement ‘Romanticism’ to help design the front of postcards. Children have researched Romantic artists and have tried to mimic the art techniques to recreate famous Romantic masterpieces.
In Maths and Communication this week we have continued with our learning around subtraction. Children have explored the vocabulary used in addition and subtraction word problems and have used this to help them solve problems in their maths lessons.
We have also started to get into the Christmas spirit and have designed our beautiful Christmas tree decorations ready to be hung up in the hall. I hope your child has fun trying to spot their tree whilst eating lunch next week! Have a lovely weekend.
