Exploring the 3 Little Pigs
We are thrilled to share the exciting activities that Yellow Class has been engaged in this half-term as we delve deeply into our core book, "The 3 Little Pigs." This classic tale has sparked our curiosity and led us into a hands-on exploration of the different building materials used by the pigs—straw, sticks, and bricks.
Throughout our studies, we have not only read the story but have also physically engaged with the materials. The children had the opportunity to touch and examine straw, sticks, and bricks, discussing the properties of each material. We compared their strengths and weaknesses, which provided a great foundation for scientific thinking.
One of the highlights of our learning was making predictions about whether these materials would float or sink in water, along with discussions on the reasoning behind their predictions. The excitement in the classroom was palpable as we conducted our experiments and verified our hypotheses!
Looking ahead, we will continue to explore various everyday materials, deepening our understanding of their characteristics and uses. The hands-on learning doesn't stop there! We are looking forward to our upcoming trip to Flip Out next week. This will be a wonderful opportunity for children to put into practise what they have learnt about jumping in their physical health sessions.
Thank you for your continued support, and we can’t wait to share more of our adventures in the next newsletter!
Warm regards,
Yellow Class
