Harry Potter World
On Monday, Year 6 embarked on an unforgettable trip to Harry Potter World at Warner Bros. Studios. This highly anticipated visit was designed to bring their current core English text, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, to life and inspire their learning in new and exciting ways.
The day began with an interactive workshop that offered students a behind-the-scenes look at the world of filmmaking. They delved into the roles of directors, producers, and other creative professionals, gaining an understanding of the collaborative effort required to produce a blockbuster film. This insight helped them appreciate the magic that happens off-camera, as well as on-screen. After the workshop, the students explored the iconic sets and props that make the Harry Potter films so beloved. Highlights included wandering down the enchanting cobblestones of Diagon Alley, stepping into the grandeur of Gringotts Bank, and standing in awe in the Great Hall at Hogwarts. The level of detail in the sets captivated everyone and brought the story to life in a tangible way. They also had the chance to see how green screens and visual effects were used to bring fantastical elements, such as flying broomsticks and magical creatures, to the big screen. Overall, the trip was an incredibly enriching experience that sparked excitement and curiosity in all who attended. Not only was it a fun and memorable day out, but it also provided a wealth of inspiration for students to draw upon in their creative writing lessons over the coming weeks.
