A Cracking Week at Kensington!!!
Kensington became the proud carers of ten healthy chicks.
Last Tuesday we were fortunate enough to have 10 fertilised chick eggs delivered to the school. The eggs had been in an incubator for 19 days, so were only days away from hatching. After ensuring that the eggs were kept warm, we had our first arrival the next day, who turned out to be a healthy, very tired girl.
By that Friday, all of the eggs had hatched and Kensington became the proud carers of ten healthy chicks. Since hatching, the chicks have continued to grow and we now know that we have 4 golden brown girls and 6 yellow boys.
All the children have loved their experience with these small creatures and most have enjoyed holding a chick for the very first time. Unfortunately, we now have to say goodbye as the chicks return to their farm where they will continue to grow and develop into four healthy egg laying hens and six rather noisy roosters!
