Science Week at Kensington
What an incredible Science Week we’ve had! The school was buzzing with excitement as children took part in hands-on workshops, fascinating experiments, and engaging activities that truly brought science to life.
Each year group explored a different aspect of science, making learning fun and memorable. Our Year 1s became budding botanists as they learned about the different parts of a flower, even creating their own beautiful 3D models. Year 2 dived into the world of mini-beasts, designing and building their very own habitats to keep their tiny creatures safe.
Year 3 explored different environments and the animals that call them home, while Year 4 investigated the effects of sugar on our teeth using eggs—an eye-opening experiment that had everyone thinking twice about their sweet treats!
Meanwhile, Year 5 took their learning to new heights by building models of the solar system and even launching their own rockets. Year 6 journeyed back in time to study fossils, before creating their own impressive replicas.
A special highlight was the visit to the ducks, where children learnt about their habits, habitats, and how to care for them. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature and understand the importance of looking after animals.
The excitement didn’t stop there! Our Science Fair was a huge success, with children showcasing their knowledge and creativity through incredible projects and experiments. And, of course, our Science Dress-Up Day was a fantastic way to celebrate, with children and staff arriving as scientists, astronauts, and even famous inventors!
Science Week has been an inspiring and engaging experience for everyone involved, sparking curiosity and a love for learning. A huge thank you to all the staff, children, and families who helped make it such a success.
